Reporting monthly data through iConnect

Each month you must give us data for your members, so we can make sure their pension records are correct. You must send this to us through the i-Connect system. i-Connect updates each member’s pension record with monthly and year to date:

  • pay information
  • employee and employer contributions paid.

It also finds all:

  • starters
  • leavers
  • changes to member details.

There’s two main ways of using i-Connect. The most appropriate method depends on how many members you have and how much data you need to send each month.

Monthly interface

This method is most suitable for medium to large employers. This would typically be if you’ve more than 50 LGPS members and/or a multiple payroll provider. With this method, you upload your data through an electronic interface. The interface moves data from your payroll system to our pension system. Please read our i-Connect guide for large employers / multiple payroll providers before you format the extract file.

Online data portal

This semi-automated method is most suitable for smaller employers. This would typically be if you’ve less than 50 LGPS members. Once you’ve entered your data into i-Connect in the first month, it will be populated for the following months. Each month you need to check your data and only update if anything has changed from the previous month.

Please read our i-Connect guide for smaller employers / single payroll providers before you format the extract file.

Please check your data

Make sure the information you give us is correct and on time as we use this to:

  • update the pension information on our on-line portals
  • give an annual pension statement for each active member
  • update our actuary so they can check there’s enough money to pay your employee’s pensions.

You must submit your return within 10 working days after the end of the relevant month. If your return is late, you could be charged. Please read our administration strategy for more information.
