Overview
There are several reasons why you may be leaving the LGPS, like your:
- contract is ending
- last active member of the LGPS is leaving your employment
- organisation is wound up, merged, or ceases to exist.
Whatever the reason, if you’re leaving the Fund as a scheme employer, you must contact us as soon as you know. This is so we can start the ‘cessation process’ and discuss any actions with you. As part of this process, we may work out if you’ve any deficit or surplus with the Pension Fund.
How we manage your cessation depends on:
- which type of scheme employer you are
- arrangements put in place when you joined the Fund, and
- the circumstances around your exit.
