How to change your name or partnership status

You can let us know your change of name or partnership status by filling in our ‘Update form’. Once you’ve filled in the form, you can return it to us either by:

Pensions Service, West Northamptonshire Council, The Guildhall, St Giles Square, Northampton, NN1 1DE.

You won’t be able to change your name or partnership status over the phone or by using your online pension account (other than by uploading the ‘Update form’ to your account). This is because you need to give us evidence of the change before we can update your details for you.

Information needed

We’ll need a photocopy of an official document showing the name or partnership change. This could be a:

  • deed poll document
  • marriage certificate, or
  • decree absolute / birth certificate.

Make sure you only send us copies of your documents and not the originals. We can’t return any documents that you send us.

The safest way is to upload your documents to your online pension account.
