Overview

Councillors in England can no longer join the LGPS. If you were a councillor on 31 March 2014, you could stay an active member until your term ended. Your membership had to end when your term ended, even if you were re-elected.

Since the 2017 local elections, no councillors have been active in the Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire Pension Funds.

Your pension was deferred when you left the LGPS. It will remain so unless you claim or transfer it.

You can check your pension on your online account.
