Taking your pension later

If you carry on working after your normal pension age (NPA), you’ll continue to pay into the LGPS building up further benefits. We’ll pay your pension:

  • when you retire or
  • when you reach the eve of your 75th birthday, or
  • if your employer agrees you can take flexible retirement,

whichever happens first. If you take your pension after your NPA, it will be increased as it will be paid for a shorter time. Your pension must be paid before your 75th birthday.
