Providing ongoing access to the LGPS
If a contractor wishes to offer the transferring staff ongoing access to the LGPS, they’ll need to enter into an admission agreement with you and the Pension Fund.
This agreement allows staff transferred from local government to a private contractor to stay in the LGPS for as long as they’re employed in connection with the transferred service.
There are several provisions within the admission agreement that need to be agreed between the contractor, you, and the Pension Fund. These include things like:
- how risk will be managed
- will new employees working on the contract be allowed to join the scheme
- what happens at the end of the contract.
This is another reason why it’s important that you contact us before the contract is agreed.
A contractor that has entered into an admission agreement becomes an admitted body.
